The Adyen Advantage
Why a single, unified platform is winning the complex and fragmented war for global payments
Adyen NV — $ADYEN ( 0.0% ) is a global financial technology company that provides a single, integrated platform for payments, data, and financial management. The company's end-to-end solution enables businesses to accept electronic payments across online, mobile, and point-of-sale (POS) channels globally, serving a blue-chip client roster that includes many of the world's leading technology and retail brands such as Meta, Uber, LVMH, H&M, eBay, and Microsoft.

Adyen was founded in Amsterdam in 2006 by a group of entrepreneurs, including current Co-CEO Pieter van der Does and Arnout Schuijff. Having previously built and sold another payment service provider, Bibit, to the Royal Bank of Scotland, the founding team possessed a deep understanding of the payments industry's shortcomings. They recognized that the existing payments landscape was characterized by a fragmented "patchwork of systems built on outdated infrastructure". This legacy approach forced merchants to stitch together disparate solutions for payment gateways, risk management, processing, and acquiring, leading to complexity, inefficiency, high costs, and poor data visibility. Adyen's founding mission was to build a modern financial technology platform from the ground up, entirely in-house, to solve these problems through a single, elegant solution.
